LEGISLATIVE STATEMENT

RE: DISCLAIMER ON THE PURPORTED POLITICAL ENDORSEMENT BY “IKIRE STUDENTS"

The Office of the Speaker, Institution Representative Council (IRC) of the National Association of Ikire Students (NAIS), National Headquarters, having taken cognizance of a publication in circulation titled: “Ikire Students Declare Support for Governor Adeleke’s Re-election, Endorse Senator Lere Oyewumi for Second Term,” hereby issues this legislative clarification.

WHEREAS, the Institution Representative Council (IRC) is the apex legislative organ of the Association vested with the authority to deliberate upon and pass resolutions on matters affecting the Association;

WHEREAS, no motion, bill, or resolution seeking to endorse any political office holder, aspirant, or political movement has been presented before, debated by, or adopted by the Council;

WHEREAS, the said publication did not emanate from, nor receive the approval or ratification of, the Institution Representative Council (IRC) or any duly recognized organ of the Association;

NOW THEREFORE, the Office of the Speaker hereby declares as follows:

1. That the Institution Representative Council (IRC) did not authorize, approve, or endorse the said publication or any political position contained therein.

2. That no legislative resolution exists endorsing any political figure, political party, or political agenda on behalf of the National Association of Ikire Students (NAIS).

3. That the Association remains strictly non-partisan and shall not be used as a platform for political endorsements or partisan alignment.

4. That any individual or group acting under the guise of “Ikire Students” to project political endorsements does so without the mandate, consent, or authority of the Association.

5. That members of the Association reserve the right to their individual political beliefs and participation; however, such expressions must not be misrepresented as the official position of NAIS or its legislative arm.

6. That the general public, stakeholders, and media are hereby advised to disregard the said publication in its entirety, as it is misleading and does not reflect the position of the Institution Representative Council (IRC) or the Association.

The Office of the Speaker further reiterates the commitment of the Institution Representative Council (IRC) to uphold legislative integrity, neutrality, transparency, and the collective interest of all Ikire students.
