A must read: suicide is not an option - Master B

Written by Adinlewa Joseph Bisodun (Master B)

Suicide which has been the order of the day in our school  are often surrounded by unanswered questions.

Suicide ideation can occur when a person feels that they are no longer able to cope with an overwhelming situation.

This could stem from financial problems, the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a debilitating illness or health condition.

Some other common situations or life events that might cause suicidal thoughts include grief, sexual abuse, financial problems, remorse, rejection.

Suicide is a preventable tragedy.
We need to compose our words orally I.e what to say and what to do when someone is having thoughts of suicide which could save lives.

Because "words are like egg, when broken they are gone and when spoken the remain indelible in the heart of the person"

The way we talk about suicide matters, and the effects of this ugly word extend far beyond conversations with loved ones.

 Preventive measures

Let's give them attention

Encourage them

Giving them to attention.

We need to understand the fact that whatever we are going through either mentally, emotionally, physically, academically or spiritually we need people

Deuteronomy 30:19-20  – “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to  life.”
